  • Thanksgiving clothes you can actually eat in (need I say more???)

    I don’t know about you, but for Thanksgiving I’m going for comfort. Of course I also want to look cute, but comfort overrules for this fun food-filled holiday. There is no shame in indulging yourself for a bit, and I sure do plan on it. SO- my clothes have to fit and function to accommodate my day. Simple as that.

    Hence, today’s look. It’s like my Thanksgiving Uniform. A uniform is something that can act as a foundation or a base to which you can build upon. In the case of this one, it is so versatile you can literally make outfits with it for days. {I have- trust me}

    Today’s look is actually just one of many ‘uniforms’ that I live in. Slim black pants, a V-neck- an all black look is always chic, always timeless and always oh-so forgiving on any body type.

    For me, this is the foundation of a wardrobe that matters- of timeless staples- of fewer, better things.

    Simplicity is a powerful choice that projects confidence.

    But don’t fret if you’re afraid of looking kinda morbid in all black- not the case at all. See it as the perfect blank canvas to which you can create whatever it is you like.

    As shown here, I started with a strong foundation, a base look- slim black pants (don’t worry, they stretch!) and this structured black top. I added a faux fur vest to add some personality and interest (and a little extra warmth). Or, also shown, you can add a cropped coat, some metallic bling & sexy-ish booties. Or just add a cashmere wrap as a sharp & simple way to finish the look.

    And another thing about black- if you happen to drop a little smidge of gravy or sweet potatoes, black hides everything. And- even if you happen to way over-indulge, black hides that too {wink}.

    DO Start with a strong foundation that looks and feels good (all black, top of my list!)

    DO layer a fun vest, or any other third piece of your choice- a blazer, cardigan, etc. Cool, playful, but still polished.

    Add personality with color, bling, big hair- whatever you like

    A perfect comfy, cozy casual holiday look!

    Enjoy your holiday!! And before you go- it wouldn’t be Thanksgiving without sharing at least one thing that you are grateful for this year. So, what are you grateful for? I, for one, am extremely greatly to have a roof over my head that I am proud to call home that is filled with my loved ones who I cherish beyond anything I could ever own- My husband of 17 years, my Black & Tan Coonhound Maggie, and the newest member of our family, Lucé the Morkie, rescued from Hopalong Animal Rescue April 2017.

    Get involved. Become part of the movement for a healthier, more sustainable fashion world. I believe that together we can change the face of fashion.  Wear what you love and wear what empowers you. Also consider where your clothes were made and who made them. Your purchase may empower the person who made them (or not).

    Shop wisely.
    Every purchase is a vote. Make yours count. Dress in clothing you love and that have a positive impact on you and the rest of the world.

    *The items featured on this blog are what I consider sustainable fashion and/or are items I have owned for a very long time- which I would then consider a sustainable fashion choice simply for the longevity of it.
