  • Life x Style 062 (cashmere + cold weather sustainable style)

Once upon a time I lived in a cold weather place. In truth, I was born and raised in Boston, MA, and lived there until the year 2000. Honestly, I don’t even know how I made it through. I really just don’t do well in the cold. It’s not meant for me- I really believe that. Even the Bay Area’s mild chill that rolled in with the fog seemed too much at times (I know- I’m such a wimp!)

As a child I remember the dread of going outside in the cold on a snow day. Even the thrill of sledding and snowman building could only take me so far. I’d do it, but could only stand it for a bit because that meant not only being cold, but even worse- wet + cold. Could. Not. Deal.

So- as life would have it, my husband and I have relocated back to the desert for the second time for his job. How perfect for us desert dwellers at heart. But wait- somehow I seemed to have forgotten- it still gets cold in the desert. Maybe not Boston cold, or Minnesota arctic cold, or San Francisco foggy August cold- but when the sun goes down, I’m COLD! But I’ve come prepared.

I’ve got my cashmere to keep me warm.

I’ve been collaborating with English cashmere brand Catherine Robinson Cashmere for almost a year now, and was recently named a brand ambassador. I feel so grateful for this partnership because not only do I LOVE CASHMERE, but it’s one of those things legitimately worth investing in.

If taken care of properly- cashmere will last you a lifetime. Anything in your wardrobe that has staying power is a sustainable purchase. And honestly- no matter where you live- hot or cold, north or south- you can use some cashmere to keep you warm. No actually you need it. But that’s just my practical petition for cashmere. Also very important- it’s a forever stylish choice as well. Other than the finest wools and alpaca, in my opinion nothing is as luxurious as cashmere.

Cashmere will always be in fashion

More to come on Catherine Robinson Cashmere in the future, but for now I’m sharing some photos of my recent holiday trip home to {blustery cold} Boston, where I was thrilled to have my cashmere essentials. I pretty much always travel with a cashmere wrap for the plane (more on that here + here). I also brought the striped scarf shown here in black and latte. It is extra long for extra warmth- but also for extra fun styling options.

The photos here were taken in Chatham, MA, an iconic and picturesque Cape Cod town. And yes, it was especially blustery cold that day, as I believe the photos convey perfectly well.

Enjoy! I hope this post inspires you to dress fabulous and fun even on the coldest of days. And I hope you’ll treat yourself to some cashmere essentials to keep you feeling fabulous and warm!

Get involved. Become part of the movement for a healthier, more sustainable fashion world. I believe that together we can change the face of fashion. Wear what you love and wear what empowers you. Also consider where your clothes were made and who made them. Your purchase may empower the person who made them (or not).

    Shop wisely.
Every purchase is a vote. Make yours count. Dress in clothing you love and that have a positive impact on you and the rest of the world.
