  • Life x Style 052 (Wear now or later)

    Hard to believe, but Labor Day actually does mean summer is coming to a close. But that’s nothing to be sad about. Interestingly, in The Bay Area where I live, September pretty much always means better weather ahead. August is typically foggy, cool, raw and mimics ‘winter’ as us Bay Area folk know it (as much of winter as I’d like to experience, thank you very much).

    As you can see on the day we shot this post, it was a typical San Francisco ‘wintery’ day. Standing right on Land’s End (literally), and you couldn’t even see the water- not even a thing.

    Version 2

    But enough about the weather! On to this chameleon of a dress by one of my new favorite ethical brands Marie Hell. It’s light enough for summer’s final days, and perfectly layer-able for later. And it just so happens to be made with wrinkle-free eco-friendly fabric (ahem, it’s even biodegradable) {for earlier blog posts on Marie Hell see here}

    There is always so much ‘fashion talk’ around this time of year about transitional dressing. And what exactly does that even mean? I think dresses are a great transitional piece, such as this Marie Hell dress featured here. IMO the key to finding the perfect transitional dress: Choose one that looks great with sandals now, or with boots later.

    It’s a versatile piece that can be paired with heals or flats, dressed up or down, and still look put together. What more could I ask for? Of course, sandals would be perfect for a warmer day. When its cooler, add supple boots and maybe a wrap or a sweater over your shoulders. Voilà.

    Simply put: A piece like this go-with-anything midi-dress is the key to seamless transitional dressing- perfect on its own or layer it up for a reliable cooler-weather look- as seen here.

    Get involved. Become part of the movement for a healthier, more sustainable fashion world. I believe that together we can change the face of fashion.  Wear what you love and wear what empowers you. Also consider where your clothes were made and who made them. Your purchase may empower the person who made them (or not). Shop wisely.

    Every purchase is a vote. Make yours count. Dress in clothing you love and that have a positive impact on you and the rest of the world.

    *The items featured on this blog are what I consider sustainable fashion and/or are items I have owned for a very long time- which I would then consider a sustainable fashion choice simply for the longevity of it.
